Weekly Product Update: Faster PDF Imposition Setup, Fewer Errors, Better Print Output

Print teams lose time in the same place every day: setup.

Wrong plate defaults, unclear duplex options, and avoidable input mistakes slow down production and increase reprint risk. If your imposition workflow needs too many checks before export, it costs money.

This week, we focused on one goal: make professional imposition faster and safer without adding complexity.

What Improved This Week

1) Smarter plate defaults by locale: the app now auto-selects plate size based on user locale. Before, users had to choose plate sizes manually from the start. After, most users begin with a correct default immediately. Why this matters: less setup friction, faster first output, and fewer incorrect starting configurations.

2) Booklet setup now auto-detects page count: booklet mode is now page-count aware, reducing manual corrections. Before, teams had to do more manual checks to confirm booklet compatibility. After, users get better defaults based on document structure. Why this matters: faster booklet prep and fewer pagination-related mistakes.

3) New plate rotation toggle: plate orientation can now be adjusted directly with a dedicated control. Before, rotation changes were slower and less obvious. After, operators can make quick orientation changes during setup. Why this matters: faster iteration when matching print requirements.

4) Stronger sheet size validation: we expanded validation for sheet-size inputs and improved feedback. Before, invalid values could make setup harder to troubleshoot. After, input issues are caught earlier and surfaced more clearly. Why this matters: fewer avoidable errors before export and less wasted time and paper.

5) Clearer duplex controls (icon-based): duplex options were redesigned for faster understanding in the sidebar. Before, dropdown-heavy controls made quick scanning harder. After, icon-led controls improve clarity and speed. Why this matters: operators can make correct duplex choices faster in real production workflows.

6) Better wizard confirmation flow: confirmation behavior was improved at key decision points. Before, setup transitions created more uncertainty. After, users see clearer decisions and next steps. Why this matters: fewer accidental choices, especially for first-time or occasional users.

7) Imposition run analytics now tracked: we now log imposition runs for product insight and optimization. Before, visibility into real workflow behavior was limited. After, the team can identify friction and prioritize improvements with better data. Why this matters: faster product improvements based on real print usage.

Why This Week's Changes Matter

These updates were built for real print environments where speed and correctness both matter.

You should now see quicker setup from open file to print-ready plan, fewer preventable configuration mistakes, and more confidence before final export.

Professional imposition should not require a long learning curve. It should be fast, accurate, and affordable.

What's Next

Next up is continued work on edge-case layout reliability, including approved fixes for sheetwise duplex ragged-grid crash scenarios.
